Do you feel like something's 'off' about your eating or relationship with food? Have you ever been told you're a 'picky' eater or felt like food was just barely keeping you going?
Maybe you've worked with an eating disorder treatment team in the past, and felt they didn't quite get what you mean. Maybe, you've been gaslit into thinking you're the problem...
Hi, I'm Brenna! As an Autistic, ADHD, and queer person, I am deeply connected to the work I do. In sessions- I'm weird, I'm honest, and I'm tired of the toxic positivity of recovery spaces. Eating trauma runs deep. Healing doesn't come from blanket statements or standardized recommendations, but from a truly authentic connection- to your body, to food, to your family (chosen or otherwise), and beyond.
Food is highly personal, and nutrition is not one size fits all. I work with clients to manage nutrition concerns that arise with ADHD, Autism, anxiety, PTSD, depression, and (insert every other DMS-5 diagnosis here). This can be physiological- like nutrient deficiencies, undereating, high or low blood sugar, high or low blood pressure, and the logistics of eating- as well as psychological- such as guilt, anxiety, restricting, binging, purging, etc.
Usually, it's both.
I received my Master's degree in Nutrition from the University of Houston. Additionally, I have received supervision and advanced education in eating disorder treatment through supervision with the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals.
More importantly, I regularly attend neurodiversity-affirming and anti-racist trainings to ensure a healing space to my clients.
I accept BCBS insurance. I also can provide superbills for out of network coverage, and offer reduced fee for those that cannot otherwise access treatment.
I see clients virtually across Texas. If you are outside of Texas, please contact me as each state has their own practice exclusivity.
